On Thursday, we went to the harbour to learn about ships. We then took the ferry to make our way to Temple Meads. There, we worked in groups to build our boats for the Harbour Festival. Our boats will be launched on the Saturday. We had some great helpers with our projects.
This week, Year 5 have had different Maths challenges to complete. They went on a question hunt on the playground, solving a range of problems involving measures. On Wednesday, they set up their own investigations to compare the speed of different ways of moving, measure carefully, collect and later on present the data. Have a go at practising your typing skills.http://luckwell-primary.typingclub.com
Remember to sign in with your username and password. This week, we learnt about money. We estimated how much different items cost, calculated percentage increases and worked with our puppets to try and be persuasive. Today, we had a great day learning about the Bloodhound SSC, with help of staff and students from UWE. We learnt about 3d printing, built our own rocket cars, used netbooks to explore sensors on a car and took a look at the model of the Bloodhound SSC. At the end, some of Year 5 had the chance to try out the simulator. Next week, we'll be having Money Week again. Year 5 will be looking at saving, credit and debit cards, loans, interest rates and prices. We'll revise 'needs and wants' and the different ways of dealing with money. Additionally, Year 6 will be trying to build their businesses up at their market, so remember to support them in this. |
